Political correctness gone mad

Over here in little old England we are suffering something terrible. Political Correctness.
I don't know if anywhere else is suffering this epidemic and if you're not, then be thankful.
Take my picture above for example. What is it meant to be if it's not a bin? Maybe it's "A Container of Waste Material" This is the kind of crap you have to face when you over here. I admit, there is a need to be reserved sometimes. But not all the time.
Here's another classic case. I can't remember the full details so forgive me but this is true.
There's a university in England somewhere and they've decided to remove the genders from toilets. Yep. They are now toilets with stalls or toilets with pans and stalls.
So what or who is this all in aid of. Transsexuals. No offense or anything but if say you where a woman trapped in a man's body and decided to get the chop surely you would be using the Ladies? Even if you are pre-op surly you would be using the Ladies. I'm sure that it is part of the process that they must integrate as much into society as a woman as possible. And I'm also sure it is the same the other way around.
And there is more behind this then just PC. What about all the guys that are going to go into the Ladies just to prev. And I doubt you be able to keep count of all the people that are going to be able to say that they conceived there first child in the toilet.
As you can see this PC crap can lead to many an unpleasantness. I just hope that someone will stop it before it gets out of hand.
See I do do post about over things then games. Remember this blog is about this fragile mind of mine. It's just mostly filled up with stuff about games thats all.

Mario get a Queer eye for the straight guy

Ok so it's not Mario. It's a fire flower. But could you imagine what Mario's clothes would change to if he did grab this. He wouldn't be throwing fire balls just in case it burns his cuticles. We wouldn't want that now. Then again it could be a good thing. Could tell peach that she need to try a colour other then pink.
I think I've got too much time on my hand if I'm doing crap like this and the one man band like yesterday. Oh well I don't think anyone is complaining. I hope.

One man Rock Band

Desperate times call for desperate measures. No one (well no one in england) had stepped up to my challenge of joining my band. So it looks like I going to need to try and do it all by myself.
The only thing is that I can't reach the foot pedal of the drums. I had the great idea of sitting on it. Well let just say never again. It's also hard to strum both guitars at the same time and virturly impossible to fret both at the same time.
The singing isn't too bad. Which is a good thing I guess. Well it is good as long as I know the words off by heart. I can't be reading the words while keeping track of which notes I need to hit at the same time.
However all in all, I think it could work. Then again, I've always been the optimist =0)

And I was going to buy a new DS

I'm not sure if I a little slow on this info (I always seem to be behind with the times). But I've found out that Nintendo is going to release a new version of the extremely successful DS with what is being called the DSi.
The first thing that needs to brought to your attention is the size differences.
Heres a pic:

Now the screens are bigger and it's skinnier too. Thats good. But it means the DSi is Wider and Taller then the original Lite.

Other features include:
  • A build in camera, both on the spine (where the microphone is located on the Lite) and on the lid. It's not been confirmed, but it is believed that the cameras will be 3 mega pixels.
  • A wireless web browser. (Hopefully not as crappy as the DS Web browser that was released last year).
  • An audio player (I have a feeling this is because the iPod Touch is stepping into the games sector).
  • A pedometer (We've had WiiFit now it's time for DSiFit).
  • A SD memory card reader (The DSi will have downloadable software. So you will need to store it somewhere).
They have however dropped the Game Boy Advance slot. Which is slightly disappointing. I still play a load of my GBA games so this might mean I have to buy both a DSi and DS Lite. I was planing on replacing my DS Lite (and yeah I'm still sour at those ass muches that stole my last one) and the DSi isn't due for release in America for late 2009. The only thing is that I've been reading that Europe might be getting it for Spring. Maybe, just maybe, Nintendo are making up for all the neglect they've given us European Gamers? I hope so.

A little more about MCM

As you guys should know from the previous post, I'm going to the MCM expo this october. I need to book tickets. But that's kind of difficult saying that Abbey are still screwing me over with my card (those bankers be pure wankers).
Any way I'm not going to let that ruin my day.
Now what I would love to do is write down everything that is going to be at the expo. But then again if I do that I want have anything else to write about. So I'm going to a little bit at a time.
So what little gem am I going to reveal today. I think the big thing I looking forward to be this:

And it's not just videos. They are actually going to be full Arcade Machine there.
Now I love arcades. I use to (and still do) save up all my coinage to just go down to the arcade to play the machines. I don't know if they will charging for each play, but I'm sure as hell hope not.
Then again what I want and what happens rarely happens.
I don't know why I so looking forward to SFIV. I'm not a big Beat 'em Up fan. But there is some-thing about this one that just draws me in. I guess SF always has been part of my Video Game up bringing and maybe that is why. What ever the reason, it's going to be Rad.
Oh I can't wait.

Rockers needed

Calling all budding guitarist, practicing drummers, groovy basses and rocking singers. I need to make a band. It's coming up to the semi-annual MCM Expo. If you've been reading my blog for a while you know that I went to the last MCM in May and absolutely loved it. Here's a video from it if you haven't seen it already. Now the the big thing for me at this one is the fact that they are doing a Rock Band tournament.
The only downside for me is that you have to have four people. I've tried to to do a one man band and it didn't work. I might post the picture of the end result depending on how I feel. It was a bit of a mess in the end.
But seriously. I really want to enter this. Not even to win it. Just to say I did.
So does anyone want to join me. I know that a certain person is a great singer but I won't drop his name. Just in case his not comfortable to sing in public.
But I'm alright-ish at most of the instruments and don't mind which one I end up playing.
But I do play a mean Lead Guitar. Nudge Nudge Wink Wink.
So yeah. If you want to join and you are in London for the 26 of October send me an e-mail. You can see my address in the box to the right. Go on. You know you want to.

COD 4

Yeah I know I'm a bit behind with the times but I only just starting playing COD 4 again. And no, it's not about fishing. Call Of Duty 4 (as it is better known as) is a brilliant game. While the single player can be deemed as too short. There is loads of re-playability. Another thing that get me coming back for more is the multi-player.
Now before J starts trowing the abuse my way, the local multi-player is crap. But; the on-line is astounding. I think over all the time I've play it I had only one connection error. And I've had the game for almost a year now.
But yeah. If anyone has the game, a 360 and is on-line add me. I need the practice. I've now managed to only die 30 times in a game. Believe it or not I was worst.

What the hell

Where are all these games coming from?
I turn my back for a second and then there's...let see now...at least three games I want to get.
Fable II, Warioland Shake Dimension and Fallout III.

And that not it. For some reason Nintendo have decided to release Phoenix Wright. Trials and Tribulations. What the hell? Why release it now? All the people who would have wanted to play it would have imported it (like me).

And I can't go and forget Call Of Duty: World at War. I'm not looking forward to this as much as I was to 4. The videos I've seen so far haven't raised the COD bug like before. I guess the change from the World War 2 setting to modern day was what did it for me back then.

I'm getting Fable. I love the idea of making your own unquie hero/villian/morally confused character. I think I'll do the next post on that.
Anyways I'm rambling (and that's something better left to ?J) so I think I'll head to bed now.

Rare and thier rare releases

Oh Rare how I love you. Well more Loved.
Back in the good old days when you where Nintendo's bitch and known as RareWare you used to do so many good games.
GoldenEye, Banjo-Kazooie, Jet Force Gemini, Donkey Kong 64.
Oh god just thinking about them brings back good memories. Just jamming in my room playing games when I was meant to do homework. Those where the days. And that's only some of the games as well.
But ever since Microsoft bought them they just went crap. They only released one good game. Conker. Live and Reloaded. And that was only ok because it was a re-make of a game they made when they were in partnership with Nintendo, Conker's Bad Dur Day.

All in all the games that have come out of Rare recently, where not crap, aren't anything to write home about.
Viva Pinata anyone? Nothing better then raising up some paper animal that are going to have the sweet knocked out of them. Or how about some Perfect Dark Zero. Zero was for originality btw.

I've just heard (well more taken notice) that they are planing to release a sequel to Banjo-Kazooie. I don't have a clue what to except. I loved the originals, I felt they really pushed the N64 to the limit. But I'm worried. Like I've just mentioned. It seems that the original Rareware crew either jump ship or just didn't put the same amount of effort into their games when the joint Microsoft.
They've already stepped away from the traditional platforming game by introducing some sort of vehicle building thingy. I'm not sure at all. But I do like the art direction they are going with it. Banjo always looked quite blocky in the N64 games. He still does now, but this time its on purpose, but this time he looks blocky outside of game play as well. Heres a piccy of a now and then both in game and out (it will properly explain it better then I will):

Banjo and Kazooie on the box cover then... ...and how they look now.

I prefer Banjo back then but I like Kazooie as she is now (yes Kazooie was and is a girl). But the new design is explained by the developers as a necessity. Something how they wanted to keep the original style of the game. Well the original in game style. Again a piccy will better explain it:

Now I can see what they are getting at. I played the game more then looked at the box. And banjo was very blocky before. But that was to be excepted. What do you except with only so many polygons? Supposedly there are meant to be thousands of polygons on the new Banjo's left nose alone.
But here I am talking about the two banjo as if they are different ones. They are one and the same. The game is set 10 years after the last outing on N64. The same amount of time between releases in the real world. This also means that Rare can't do do there signature "Push back the release date" that they are famous of. Maybe that's why the games they have produced for Microsoft have been not the best they could of been.
Then again it could be just me.
I am and I'm not looking forward to this new incarnation of the Bird and Bear duo. I am because as I've said, I loved the originals. I'm not because of Rares latest track record. If it turns out to be good then one game I would like to see them re-do is Jet Force Gemini. But I'll talk more about that game in another post.

I've had a terrible weekend.
On Friday night I got Mugged.
They took quite a few of my things.
They kicked my head a couple of times.
But worst of all. The bastards video recorded it.
So. If any of you see some wimpy white guy get his ass kicked by 3 black guys (might only be 2 as one was recording) on YouTube or anywhere on the net please drop me a line.
I wanna make those wankers pay.

Oh sorry for the excessive swearing, but right now this is my only outlet.

Wii LAN adapter

This thing has made me fall in love with the Wii online capability. It wasn't my connection in the long run. It was my Wii's Wi-Fi ability. God knows why it screwed up.
Anyway, I just got this little plastic block of happiness today and wow what a difference it makes.
I went onto the Wii Shopping Chanel and got on right away. No waiting, no nothing (not even Wii points to spend).
But after that the big test came. A game. But what game should I try? I wonder.
I believe that this is going to be the last chance Super Smash Bros Brawl has to make a good impression.

So what do I think of the online now. Well, its kinda embarrassing to say this after knocking it so much but I'm giving it a 3/5 now. It would of scored higher if it weren't for the blasted Friend Codes and the fact that there is no voice chat. I also don't like the fact that because of the anonymity of it all that it almost feel like your playing the computer on hard mode. But there is no lag. That is the most important thing. At least at the moment.

So with that new score in place how does it look for Brawl overall?
Well it looks like this:

Gameplay

4/5

Simple and easy to learn. But can get repetitive in signal player. And clones don’t do it for me.

Multi-player

4/5

You won’t be able to get a better multi-player game.
Would be 5/5 if it weren’t for the…

On-line

3/5

...those damn Friend Codes ruin the fun.

Graphics & Sound

4/5

Beautifully renderer and clear as a summer’s morning (well as a summer morning somewhere other then England). It’s a shame the music wasn’t orchestrated.

Overall

75%

Just so you understand 0% is “Crap”, 50% is “Average” and 100% is “Wow”. Only a dew games deserve a “Wow” and this game is definitely not one of them.

So there you have it. Are you happy now? =0)

Super Smash Bros Melee...Finally

I said I'll do it and I did. Now leave me alone for a while. I need some sleep. ZZZzzzzz....
Oh here's the review btw:

So what's it about?
I doubt that there are many people that don't know what Smash Bros is. But I know how annoying it can be to try a get information about some things so I'm going to set a little background down about the game.
The game itself is the third installment of the smash bros series and was the most anticipated releases for the Wii this year. Boasting more characters, bigger stages and even on-line game play. It was going to raise the bar set by its predecessor.
The basics of the game are simple.
Take a Nintendo charter. You have a long list to chose from. But worth while going thought. With classic such as Mario and Pickachu. To classics such as Pit from Kid Iccurus or Mr Game & Watch.

Now as with all fighting games there are clones. Clones meaning different character, same moves. The best example I can think of off the top of head is Ryu and Ken from the original Street Fighter games. It was so bad that not only did they have the same moves their bodies where the same as well. You could only tell them apart from there heads and the colour of their clothes. The worst culprit for this in Smash Bros is the Star Fox team. Fox, Flaco and Wolf. They are all the same. Why waste space with Wolf when you could of put someone like Kystle in? That way you are keeping someone from the game but is likely to have a different move set. Just a thought.

Now all this talk about the moves leads nicely on to how to pull them off. And in true Nintendo style it's kept really simple. Now each charter has 8 basic moves that you can pull off. This involves the use of the A and B button and what direction you tap on the control stick.
The A is used for what are called smashes. In other words punching, kicking, clawing and biting. The B button are the special moves which are unique to each character. Well them and their clone. For example Mario basic B move (standing still and tapping B) is a fire ball where Yoshi's is to stick his toung out and shallow the enemy. Oh Yoshi you saucy thing you.

Now not wanting to have just another fighting game, Nintendo have thrown in another feature to make things interesting. You don't lose the match based on having a set bar health depleted. This doesn't mean that you can let your self get hit. Oh no no no. The more you get hit the higher your health % goes up and the further you get sent flying. Up until you're sent sailing off the screen. To which you then lose a life. But this opens up a whole new set up. How embarrassing would it be if you managed to get your friends damage up to 200% (Most people get knock out of the arena at around 150%) only to have them pull a reversal and wham bam straight to the moon. I would say it would be very.

What I expect.
Now as you can guess from all these words I'm very into Smash Bros. I've been counting every second for Brawl to be released in the U.K. Every unantagonizing second. I wanted to know how they have improved on and added to a game, that in my eyes is a very polished. Now the biggest feature I've been looking forward to is of course the on-line gameplay. If you where to ask me a couple of years ago if this was important then I would have said "No". But back then I lived close to all my friends and we would all have free time and be able to go around to each others houses. Now we work. Oh how it sucks. Can't buy games with no money. Need to work to get money. Can't play games because we're at work all the time. The cycle is vicious. Anyway back to the point. Now on-line gameplay is essential for any multi-player game. Now with Smash Bros you can play the single player game but it is predominately a Multi-player affair.
If Nintendo nail on-line play on the head then will have a contender for Game of the year. If they don't then we'll be looking at Super Smash Bros Melee 1.5. Better graphics, better sound but all in all the same game.

Graphics and Sound
Now the graphics are far superior to the originals. At first I didn't notice, but on one of my friend's request (Yeah I'm talk about you J), I went and played Malee right after Brawl. Damn. You don't realize how your brain make a happy memory even better. Just so you can see heres some comparisons I found on the net.
The most noticeable thing is Link's (the dude in green) hair. Well at least to me it is.
The sound, even though it is not orchestrated is great. You will hear the some tunes and you stop humming them for days. I know this is a fact because every one at work gives my evils the moment I start any type of humming now. Over all the Music and Graphics are crisp and clear. What more could you want?

On-Line
Now you might of noticed that I left this part till last. I felt that it was necessary because Brawl is a good game...Well. It is if you can get your friends around to play it that is.
It rested on the on-line functionally of the game to prove that Nintendo can hold it's own in the gaming world at present. Sadly, as you can properly tell from my previous comment, it didn't.
(You will have to trust me one this. It actually hurts to say it. Being a Nintendo fanboy and all.)
The first reason (there is more then one) why on-line sucks do-do is the lag. A 90 year old granny, that has arthisits in all her joints and has riggo-bloody-mortis setting in because she is so close to death is quicker then this game on-line.
Take this as an example of the lag. One of my friends live on the other side of London from me. I would say it just about 10 miles or so. We couldn't connect. Another problem we had was those blasted Friend Codes. And that's the second reason why the game fails in the on-line market.
Its not easy trading codes. There's no guaranty hat both parties will add each other. And they are so long as well. Why can't Nintendo make set User Names?
Now I've have competed in 3 matches that were bearable. I try to play on-line 40 times. That means that I have a 7.5% of getting a decent Brawl going. =0(
And before any one tries to say my connection must have aids or something. It doesn't. My 360 plays perfectly well online, even while my mum is surfing using the wi-fi connection.

Overall
I was expecting so much but received so little for a game that had such a delayed release. You would think all the bugs would have been iron out. But it seems that they have been left in. After the brilliant Super Mario Galaxy, I belived that Nintendo were going to look after there own brands. However after playing Mario Kart and Brawl I doubt that very much. The fan boy in me wants to give in and say "Yeah this game Kick Arse" 10 out of 10!" But I can't lie. Not even on Nintendo behalf. Sadly it's more "Dude. This game Sucks Ass. 6 out of 10."
If you have the money to spare then it's a ok addition to your collection. Other wise save it for a rainy day.

Gameplay

4/5

Simple and easy to learn. But can get repetitive in signal player. And clones don’t do it for me.

Super Smash Bros Brawl Review...well kinda

I was having a look over my blog and apart from 2 post (Hot Damn! & Gaming Goodness From all 3 Fronts), I've not done any reviews. Well video game reviews. This is something I need to sort out.
And I am. With this. My review of Super Smash Bros Brawl on the the Wii.
But I won't be doing it yet. I want this review to show what I really think of this game. So I'm going to play it a bit more before I make any final comments.

But while you guys wait, I'll tell you what I'm testing the game on.
The main reason for this is to show I'm not using some sort of 14" Rear Projection telly from 1993. And can fully justify myself when I say anything about Graphics.
So the telly. It's Samsung and it a 37". It is capable of an HD output of 720p. And it has connection ports for SCART, Component and HMDI.
My Wii is currently using the Component port, my 360 is using the HMDI port and my PS2 (Yeah damn right I got a PS2) is set up via the SCART.
I have a Boardband connection which reaches speeds of up 16gb. But in a test of the speed it gets around 8gb.
Now that should make it clear that I won't being giving bad info on anything from the Graphics to the On-Line Gameplay. Sound is a slight problem. T.vs are never give a good sound quality as the game designers hope. But all the games I've played so far are good on that subject.

Last but not least I'll give a rought layout of my reviews.
  • The Game. A little background story (if any) and basically what the game is.
  • What I Expect. This I set down what I expect of the game. If it is a sequel then it will have to prove it is better then the last one. These expectation have to be met if it dreams of getting a high score in the "Overall" section.
  • Game Play. Speaks for it self.
  • Multi-Player. This will be based on local play (i.e two guys in the same room, on the same sofa battling it out).
  • On-Line Game Play. Like above, but also if there any other features (e.g Downloadable content)
  • Graphics and Sound. I'm not the best person to ask about Graphics. I would happily play REZ all day.
  • Overall impressions. Again say what it is on the tin. But this will be the most important section. It will be here where I give my score.

Now a quick not on scores. They will be based on a 10 out of 10 scale.
  • 10 meaning "You Must Buy This If You Haven't Done So. What. You don't own the console? Then buy it and the game, B**th!"
  • 5 meaning the game is average. "It's a good game. But thats all. If you have the money to spare buy it. If you don't then don't."
  • 0 being "Why on Earth, No in Hell Did I buy this B***ard game.
I'm not the kind of person that will give a 10 to every game. It might seem that way sometime, but thats only because I don't want to waste my money if possible on crappy games.
Hopefully that will clear up some of the scores I given in earlier posts.
I wasn't being nasty or stupid. Just truthful.

Any way I'm going to go Brawling. Review up next.

Saturday, 12 July 2008

Hi. My name is Koobs and I'm addicted to video games.

Yes. I admit it. I am addicted. It's probably worst then being addicted to crack.
Seriously, I go and get cold sweats if I don't play something within 2 hours.
It's got so bad that I have to carry my DS everywhere with me. Today the battery died and I resorted to buying a game for my mobile. A bloody game for my mobile. There crap. But I needed my fix.
It turned out that it wasn't to bad a game. Loosely based on Track and Field, "Playman Summer Games 3" is alright. Sure I completed the amateur set in one sitting, it was still fun. And it has multi-player as well. Mobile games have come a long way since Snake.

But I have gone on a bit of a bing of gaming this month. Here's a look at the list:
Wii Fit (Wii)
The World End With You (DS)
Rez HD (XBox Live Arcade)
Bomerman Live (XBox Live Arcade)
We're not even half way thought the month and I already have four games.
As promised I will do a review for all the games I have and these shall be included.

But because I'm not in the writing mood right now, here's a quick run down of the games and why they got there score.
  • Rock band. 9/10 (Download able content expands the gameplay experience and multi-player is spot on.)
  • Paper Mario. The Thousand Year Door. 8/10 (Would of scored higher if it wasn't for the slow beginning. Also a bit worried about the re-playability.)
  • Grand Theft Auto IV. 9/10 (A game that has lived up to it's hype. Might get 10/10 after I try the multi-player)
  • Super Smash Bros Brawl. 4/10 (A game that didn't live up to the hype. Might as well of called it Super Smash Bros Melee 1.5. All that Brawl has that in my eyes that is different is a tacked on on-line gameplay. Oh and the graphics have been amped up a little.)
If you have problem with the scores I've given drop me a line. As you can see one the right >>>
There are many ways to get in touch. Or leave a comment. But don't argue if you don't have something to back it up. I don't wanna hear GTA IV is crap cos its only on the 360 and PS3.
That's just being stupid.
Anyway I'm going to go and try and complete some of these games.

Oh my goody goody gosh!

Oh my words.
I'm a massive fan of Chrono Trigger. It was a great game on the SNES that like many of the great games on the SNES was not released in the U.K.
One thing I hate more then delays is games not being released at all.
Games such as Earthbound and Chrono Trigger are prefect examples. They are good games. They where recived well in the US. Why the hell weren't they released over here?
If you wondering how I played them then I'm not ashamed to say it. I got them as roms.
I think a bit more explanation is needed about Roms. So when something needs more explanation what needs to be done?

That's right. It's time for Ice 101.
Lesson #003 Roms and Emulation

Very basically it is the a way to play Video Games on a P.C or certain Games Consoles (360 comes to mind). The main consoles that have become emulated are the NES, SNES, Game Boy Advance and Playstation.
Now to be able to do anything you need to have an Emulator. This is a program that acts as the console. Next you need the Roms. These act as the actual games. Now when the two are separate they are are rubbish, you can't do anything at all. But together they could give you hours of fun.
There is a but however. Roms aren't exactly legal. Yeah that's right I'm a criminal. Well I was. I haven't played a Rom in years. And when I did it was only to play games like Chrono Trigger.
But yeah that's that.

By the way you might be wondering what bought this on. This bought it on. To the untrained eye it means nothing. But to me. The clock is the clock from the start of Chrono Trigger. The sound is the from the start of Chrono Trigger. Its from Square Enix, which use to be Square, who released Chrono Trigger.
By my calculation what ever it is counting down to, will be done in around 432000 seconds. Thats 7200 minutes. Thats 120 hours. Thats 5 days.
Oh man, oh man, oh man. I can't wait till this is over. I think I know what it is for. I believe that it's for the re-release of Chrono Trigger on the Nintendo DS. I prey to god that that is the case.
I think I've rambled on for long enough. I just can't wait. Oh come five days hurry up and go by already.

Let the brawling commence!

I did it again.
I have a massive pile of games I need to complete and I've gone and added another one. But it was a "Must Have". I swear.
If you didn't guess from the title then this pic should give it away.
Yeah I know its opened already. Its just that when I got it I have a weird habit. I got to smell the instruction manual. Each page. Individually. I don't know why but the only thing I can think of right now that beats the smell of a new game is freshly cut grass.
Any whoo. I'm off to play this. I don't care if I got work tomorrow. Once my internet is sorted (hopefully by Monday), I shall post my Wii friend code and my Brawl one as well. Smash Bros will be my first online game for the Wii. So it might take me a little while to get use to. So just bear with me. Enough I'm going to go and play now.

Why the delay?

Now. My posts are spread a little thin. I wanna do more, believe me on that.
But its hard to do.
I work hard. I play hard. There is barely any time for anything else.
Don't worry. I'm not getting rid of this blog. I love this place.
But thats why that the post aren't done as often as I would like.
Thats why the quest has dropped behind. That is now on a back burner. I'm currently seeing someone who I very much like. I think it would be stupid for me to carry on with the Quest. Not in its present state. I'm having a rethink about how to do it and once I worked out what it is, I'll tell you.
Anyway. I'm kinda disappointed in the results of the last poll. Only one person voted. And they didn't know what Ice 101 was. =0(
I guess I got to use it more often. Another thing I would like to do is reviews of the games I'm playing. It's what I do so might as well share my knowledge.
I know I have said it before but I will do it.
Here are some of the reviews you guys can look forward to.
  • Rock band (I've just unlocked all the songs on it for the guitar)
  • Paper Mario. The Thousand Year Door (I only got it recently)
  • Grand Theft Auto IV
  • Xbox 360 (I started this blog with a review of the Wii. It makes sense to do of the other consoles)
  • Or I could do a PS3 Vs 360
I think I worked out what the next poll is. This time vote. It's only two clicks.

What games get away with

Why do I always find the bad things?
First Head in the shop now this. When I first read this I did a double take. And yes, it does say "When you were IN a child". And from the shocked face of the Judge, you would be forgiven for thinking he did do some nasty things.
This game BTW is Phoenix Wright Ace Attorney: Trials and Tribulations for the Nintendo DS. Part three of a series you play as Phoenix Wright Attorney of law. Kind of a give away from the title. Now the gameplay is based on a classic point and click adventures that you use to get on the P.C. Don't worry if you never heard of played a Point Click adventure because guess what?

Lesson #002: Point and Click Adventures
That's right it's another Ice 101, this time about the Point and Click Adventures.
This a game genre where you travel around the game and click on certain objects. Now some of these object would be added to your to your inventory. This could then be use to solve a puzzle later in the game.
Here an example from a classic Point and Click game "Discworld 2 Missing Presumed...!?".
This is just to get some wax for some dribbly candles. I'll explain in detail after.

"Go over to the beehives and use the chili on the flowers. Give the clickie brochure to the
beekeeper and the use the petticoat on Rincewind. Light the incense with the matches and use it
on the bees. Now that the hive is smoking, use the clay pot on it and then double-click on the hive
to get some dribbly beeswax."
Does this make no sense. Don't worry, Diskworld always had a strange logic. To get dribbly candles you need to have dribbly wax. To get dribbly wax you need to make the bees sweat. And thats why you throw chili onto the flowers. Because it makes the bees sweat. This is the logic does not apply to all Point and Click Adventures. Its ummm "Unique". But as you can see there is a lot of collecting and puzzle solving which is great for the logically minded.
Here's some point and click games that I would recommend:
Diskworld 2 (I've never played the first one)

Day of the Tentacle (Yep you've got to protect the world from tentacles)

Broken Sword (This is just one of the a big series, but I think this is the best one)
And last but not least Escape from Monkey Island (This is again part of another massive series. And again I would say this the best one)

Anyway back to Phoenix Wright. Trials and Tribulations was never released in the U.k I don't seem able to find a reason anywhere. Then I thought hell might as well get an import and now I found the reason. Because of the pedo they have for a judge.
Only kidding I know it was a typo. But then again in this day and age I wouldn't be surprised if someone did complain about this. Maybe it was because of this one mistake that it wasn't released in good old England. I doubt it, but it could be why.

Inconsiderate Bloody Bomb

Now I don't know if this is on the world news or anything but down in the east of London a WWII bomb has been found.
Not too surprising. According to the Imperial War Museum around 10% of the bombs drop over London during the Blitz did not explode and have not been found yet. However this one has been found. So being the Health and Safety Nuts we are over here in good old England. We suspend a whole load of train lines.
Now fair dos. I wouldn't particularly want to be blown up on my way to work. But for crying out loud, at least give a reason to why you are shutting down the tube and train lines. And at least give alternate routes. I feel so sorry for the staff at the stations. They were properly given hell.
Well I don't blame the Tube's
staff about this communication and transport meltdown. Nor do I blame whoever dropped the bomb in the first place. I blame the stupid Olympics. All I see is the hassle it will give and has given to the London transport system. If it can't handle the load now, how the hell is it meant to handle it for 2012. Maybe Transport for London think it can be done with a pinch of salt. Maybe more a pinch of TNT in this given case.
You probably wondering how the hell is it because of the 2012
Olympics. Well easy really. They were clearing the site for the 2012 Games Village construction.
That freaking bomb was properly there for 60 years or so. God damn Olympics. Can't be happy that you take all my money. Now you have to make me late for work too.
Oh here's a pic of the bomb. I guess it would make a pretty big mess if it did go off.

MCM Expo

The Movie Comic Media Expo (MCM or just Expo for short) is held twice a year. I wish it was held at least once a month.
It just so funking cool. Actually now I think about it, it might be a good thing that it's only held twice a year. I don't think my wallet could take another assault.
Now I the Expo is a great way of introducing an idea I've been toying around with. Ice 101. The basic idea. I let you in on some of the useless but interesting information I know about (Like how Giraffe are the only animal that lick behind its ears). The whole idea of this blog was to clean out my mind and this a good way of doing that.
Anyway, on with Ice 101.
Lesson #001: Cos-Play
Now if you've never been to the MCM (or any type of expo about comics or manga) before, then you might be in for a shock. One of my friends nearly hyperventilate when she went with me and saw cos-play in action (Cookie you're sooo cute).
Very basically it stands for costume play. Its were people dress up as characters from their favourite anime or video game. Here's an example:

And that is cos-play. Easy right?

Another great thing about the expo is how friendly the people are. A prime example of this is the amount of people with signs stating "Free Hugs". And this moves me nicely onto my next topic "FREE stuff". I admit I did spend money at the expo but there is always free stuff if you know where to look for it. I'm not going to tell where however. That's the fun part. It's like a big treasure hunt. Have I ever mentioned that I'm really just a big kid. Or at least a 12 year old stuck in a 22 year old's body.
Another thing that happens at the event is the "Star Signings". Now the stars always varies from expo to expo and never really grab my attention but this time was different. Ernie Hudson was there. Now those of you who aren't in the know, Ernie Hudson played Winston Zeddmore in Ghostbusters. Now to me Ghostbusters is like one all the all time "Greatest Movies Ever". This is up for argument. But let it be known. I will lay the smackdown on anyone who disagrees.
The next MCM Expo is held again in October. And guess what. I'll be going. Heck I might even do some cos-play. Any one got any ideas on what I should go as.

P.s If you want to see more pictures of the expo click this link. It's all the photos I took.
P.P.S Sorry it took almost 2 weeks to post this. I've got too many games and not enough time.
