This is where I shall post all my random thoughts and what-nots.
It's time I did a spring clean of my mind and there is a load of crap I need to get out of here.
I was trying to think what would be a good but suitable present to give you all for today. Then I came up with this. Now remember. An Ice Koobs is for life. Not just for Christmas. Happy Holidays Ice Koobs
Saying at Christmas you always have the movies playing. So I thought I would do a special animated movie. So for your viewing pleasure, The Greatest Fan Film Of All Time. Btw that is the actual title. Oh and if you want to skip the credits, go to around the 3.10 mark. Also this movie is about 40 mins long so make sure you have time to watch it.
What else did you except with only 3 day left till Christmas? But as you should all know I always put a little twist on obvious posts. So enjoy "The Twelve Days Of Video Game Christmas"
Best line and most truthful one: "On the fifth day of Christmas Richie gave to me a reason to play my WIiiiiiiiii."
Best line just because the guy says it so well: "On the Ninth day, Niko! My cousin."'
Line I'm not getting (but he put so much enthusiasm into it that it's still good): "On the second day, Version 2.o"
I wish I was imaginative enough to come up with something like this. I would gladly sing it just not come up with it. So if anyone has some songs they don't mind me slaughtering, send me an e-mail (the address is to the right in the "How to get in touch" section) and I'll do a video and post it =0)
This might be my last post before Christmas, so if that is the case then MERRY CHRISTMAS. Ice Koobs
If there is one thing I love in life, it is freebies. Which is what happened yesterday when I switched on my 360 yesterday. I was having a little look around seeing if there was anything new. Low and behold, I found a FREE game on the XBLA. So naturally I downloaded it right away without looking at the description. Heck the game is free, it has dinosaurs and it seem to be sponsored by Doritos, what could possibly go wrong? Well it made me a Gamerscore Hore. But that was the only bad thing. Over wise it a sound little game. By the way, a Gamerscore Hoe (Hore, slut, [enter another word to describe someone who is sexually promiscuous here]) is someone who ONLY plays games to increase the Gamerscore. Not for the game itself. You can increase your score by doing little achievements throughout the game. The score doesn't do much, apart from giving you braggers rights on the game. I will admit that when I play a game that I like, I will go out of my way to try and get as many of the achievements as possible. But that's only because I'm a completenish (It's like OCD only for Video Games). By becoming a Gamerscore Hussy I feel slightly dirty. Points aren't meant to easy to get, but I did most of them in half an hour.
Any way let look pass the negative and talk more about the game itself.
Now this game is the winner of a competition called UnlockXbox. You literally came up with an idea and submit it. If it's good you get entered for the finals where a beta will be produced and the public voted on what they enjoyed the most. The gameplay itself is easy to pick up but not so simple that you will get bored. Now the first game mode is to play as the the T-Rex and chase around the trucks before they finish their deliveries. Sounds easy and is easy, but by hell is it fun. You can flatten the city if you really want to and let your destructive nature lose. But that's not all you can do, in the ultimate role reversal you can become the truck driver, where your aim is to make as many deliveries as possible before getting eaten. And it is as equally fun. I found a video clip of the gameplay in action. It not only shows how the game plays but also how good the graphics and sound is.
For a game that was free I wasn't excepting so much. And there is a multi-player mode as well which I haven't touched on yet. Actually I think I'll go and play that now. Toodles. Your Gamerscore Skank, Ice Koobs
To give you a true view of my music library I've decided to go for a new way of selecting what songs to play. The method I employ is what I like to call the Fruit Method. Basically what I do is switch on ITunes, switch on random and hit play. If it's a band I've done before then I'll click skip. Luckily the first song on the list is a good one. I've literally got my whole music collection of the last ten years on here, so there might me some real chesse in there.
But any way onto todays Fruit Choice. +44 with When Your Heart Stops Beating
I love this song. As usal I have no idea why, but I do. Maybe it's the lirics or the beat or the tune. One thing that drew to +44 is the lead singer and the drumer. It Mark Hoppus and Travis Barker from Blink 182. One of the frist bands I activly listened to. I still listen to them today. But ovioulsy not as much saying that they have split up now. Shame really. I only got to see them once in concert. Ice Koobs
So a couple of things have been going down this month. Like the new new web site by Konami. If you you want to go to it you can find it here. But to save you the bother I'll post a pic of what it is just below, wait for it, here.
Now this made not look like much but doesn't that last symbol look a lot like the 360 power button? Just a thought. Plus sales of the 360 have now increased in Japan thanks to "The Last Remnant". Not by much but still. Now talking about the Last Remnant, reminds me of another that is going down in the gaming community. Cheaper games. Now it could be because of the recession. Or the fact that retailers have finally noticed that you they will sale more if it is cheaper. But it's been a bargain bonanza over here in the U.K. Here are a couple of examples. Last week Gamestation did Fable 2 and Fallout 3 for £20. They are now doing Banjo Kazooie for £20. That work's out £25 cheaper then RRP. And it's not like they are old games either. None of them have been out for more then 2 months. But it don't end there. Game this week are selling The Last Remnant for £20, which isn't too shaby. But get this, they're doing Prince of Persia for £25. That game's been out for less then a week. But I've got to control myself. I can't be spending all my hard on cash on just games. Or can I. No must fight temptation. Got...to..chop..up ...........caaaarrrrdddd...ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh.
Also so people can't say that I don't think. Does this "Looming" recession mean that Nintendo and Sony are screwed? Think about it. Causal gamers see gaming as a luxury. Something they can go without if needs me. With the big N only really aiming at the casual market they would be F'ed up if what I say come true. Sony aren't that better off either. Saying their games and console are more expensive but exactly the same as the 360 (plus a blue ray player). Like I said, just a thought. A little something from my fragile mind. Ice Koobs
Today is going to be a short post as it's already 12.25 Tuesday. So I'm already 25 mins late with it. So a quick scan though my musical library and found this catchy little number.
Sorry for infecting your minds. You're not going to forget the tune for at least a week. Ice Koobs
Ok so it is coming close to the end of the year. But surly it's to early to start anouching what games are going to be produced for 2009? Only two have picked up on my radar, one of which is Guitar Hero 5. I can't see how producing another Guitar Hero so soon is going to be worth it. But I can see that this is going to be one fanchaise that going to get the life and soul sucked out of it. And it will more then likely involve another guitar for you to furiously masturbate. Mmm plastic fantasic, I think not. I have far too many fake guitars now so no thanks. To actually think, the amount of time and money I have spent on musical rythm games could of actually learning to play the real thing. As per usal I've done things the wrong way around again. I should of done the real thing, earn lots of money from that and then buy all the games I want with all the mulla I would of had. Shucks.
The second game of which I will be purchasing is Call Of Duty: Morden Warfare 2. Now before anyone asks "WHY? You hated COD:W@W." The differents this time around is that my beloved Infinty Ward will be again producing it. Not the shambles that is known as Treyarch. Hopefully IW will be able to put right what Treyarch so, so, SO broke. I guess a good thing about it being anounced so early means that they would have started to devolpe it now. Which again is something BastardArch, sorry, ShitArch cocked up on by starting production so late.
Any dos, I'm sure I came on here to do something else. Ahh well I'm sure it will come back to me. Ice Koobs
While reading the Metro yesterday (it's free. I'm not saying no to a freebie). I found out that a virus is being spread through facebook. The name of this virus? "Koobface". At first I was all like "aww wow some one name something after me." But then I thought some more and realized that it's not that a good a thing. I just want to know who came up with the name. And before anyone says it was me who made it, yeah. Cause I'm sooooo good with computers that I have the same layout for over six months now. Actually saying that I should look at reformatting the layout. It's getting a bit dull now. Mmm my creative juices are flowing now. Ice Koobs
For a game that I wasn't sure about I'm pleasantly surprised by Mirror's Edge. The big thing that hits me is that even though it's not like a rainbow it's still vibrant with it's colouring. You can actually see where you are going and meant to be heading as well. Even if you switch off runner's vision (this is why some object turn red. They act as a guide), you can still work out ways of getting from one point to next. Also, as of yet, I haven't run into any major glitches. There is one small in the game play one but it doesn't spoil the game play if that makes sense. It's hard to describe as well, especially if you have never played the game before, and I only noticed it because I'm like that, in that I notice the smallest of things. But the biggest thing I can say that is is that I haven't come across any graphical ones. This is big in my eyes now, especially after the shanagnas of COD. World at War. If you're a fan of free running then I would say that this game is a must have. By making it play thought a First Person persceptive you do with like you are there and linking each vault and wall run. It almost makes me want to climb out my window and run across the roof. But as soon as I lean out I realize that: One. It's way to cold to being stuff like that. And two. I'm (don't laugh now) scared of heights. Well at least I can watch videos of other people doing it instead.
One final thing that I think needs to mentioned is that its good to see that more effort was put into the production of the game then the advertising of it. If anything it has advertise it self with every trailer that has been produced.
It doesn't happen to often. But sometimes a situation will just appear right in front of you that you have to take advantage of it. One of these situations happen yesterday while the shop was getting cleaned. I'll show you the picture first followed by what I shouted.
"I TOLD YOU NOT TO DISTURB ME WHILE I'M CLEANING MY ROOM!"
I love Scary Movie. And from the amount of laughter I got, I don't think I'm the only one. Ice Koobs
Have you ever seen the beginning of most cartoons these days? None of them match up to what we used to watch. No catchy tunes. No revving you up to be super hyper. No nothing. Here some classic examples good openings to some classic cartoons.
Which one was your favorite turtle. I like (yes I still like him hence the present tense) Michaelangelo. All the others are to serious.
I think I pissed my mum off so much when this came on because I could only remember the "Chip Chip Chip N' Dale" part.
I actually learned this song when I was younger. I think it made Saturday mornings much more bearable. I can't remeber all of it now however. Such a shame =0(
And last but not least. Well click play and find out.
Now truthfully how many people always use run around the place screaming at the top of their lungs "Thunder, Thunder, Thunder...THUNDERCATS HOOOOOoooooeeeeeee." Or was it just me. I might do it at work when it's quite and see if any one joins in.
Those where just 4 I could think of now but I'm sure that are others that I've missed. Do you guys remember any others? Ice Koobs
So after my last little question I thought I might post a little brain teaser for you all to try and work out. Go on and give it a try. Just don't bang your head to hard if you don't get the answer right away.
I live above a star, and yet I never burn, I have eleven neighbours, and yet none of them turn, P,R,S (& sometimes Q) are my initials, now tell me what I mean
I've been listening to Daft Punk for ages now. I don't even remember when I first heard them. But I do know that my first album was Discovery. I think the main reason that I got it was because I saw one of the music videos which was all done Anime style. But one song that always sticks out in my mind is Harder, Better, Faster, Stronger. You might recognize the title but not be able to put your finger on where you heard it. I won't ruin the surprise yet. I'll let you hear it first. Now instead of posting the official video, I found this one instead. I know it's gathered quite a big fan base already but, Meh, so what if I behind with the times.
So what do you think? And have you worked out where you've heard it yet? Answer on the back of a post card please (or at least leave a comment, lol). I love how they merge the two verses together. It's pulled off so well. Also I love a bit of disco dance music. Nothing better to bounce around on the dance floor to then an infectious beat. Or at least that's what I think. Ice Koobs
Howdy.
My name's Koobs. I'm a budding Video Game designer that is currently reading at uni. That's right I'm a student which, if anything, means I'm brimming with ideas that are just waiting to be utilized. Follow myself and my blogs to see how I use those said ideas and also to be entertained to a standard you probably never thought you could reach.
Oh, just one more thing, wipe your feet when you come in. Nothing's worse than muddy footprints.
