Who of my favorite movies of all time is who framed Roger Rabbit. I just loved the way it was real but had cartoons as well.

I think this clip is brilliant. Like I would so have Master Chief do all of that stuff and more. The acting could be better. But that can be easily remedy. I'm already looking forward to the other episodes.

AW +1. Kenya Classic

Another classic for you this week. But first an apology bout posting late again (not that I think anyone actually comes on the specific days, still nice to keep on time though). This time it was out of my control as my mum took her laptop to work. I've could of done the post though my G1 but the formatting sucks and I couldn't have bad formatting for a regular post. The spelling is bad enough.
I use to sing this song all the time in sixth form much to annoyance of my fellow students. I think that they didn't know the words so they were just jealous. Or cause I got to see this awesome clip before them and got jealous over that. What ever the reason it was definitely because they were jealous. No over reason for sure.

And yes. When I was in a paticulaly silly mood I would dance to it as well. And Yes again. I do still sing once and again. Just ask the guys I work with.

Aw Karas

Time for another anime special. The star of today's Animated Wednesday being Karas (Which is Japanese for The Raven).

Now you may reconigse the picture or the name. Well if you read fellow blogger Random J's blog then you made as well have seen him as he stars in the Game Campon Vs Tatsunoko.

As an anime it doesn't follow the set rules as such. It always has a serious tone very rarely having a slapstick moment, if any. Not to say that this is a bad thing. Sometimes you will get so caught up in your thoughts about what is going on that you don't need any unnecessary comedy going on. The main story revolves around Ex-Karas Eko. Well not so much him but more about him going AWOL and wanting to re-build not just Tokyo but the whole world. Step in Otoha. The replacement Karas chosen by Yurine, the embodiment of the spirit and will of the city. I never realized how hard it is to write a review about something with out actually given away to much of the plot. I want to write more about the story but everything is revealed little by little with in the actual show. So that's why I can't really talk much more about the story. But take my word on this. I do recommend getting this DVD. If not for the story then the art style. It currently comes on two different disk which can be purchased together or separately. One complaint I do have is that the fight scene in the second disk don't match up to the ones in it's predecessor. But it is estinal if you want to answer all the unanswered questions.

The thing that I like the most about Karas is the how good the hand drawn sections are merged with the computer generate parts. Take the example below that shows the first action scene.

Looks almost real is some places. When I was younger (well four years ago to be precised) and uneducated in the way of graphic design, I always believed that it was all live action. I can now tell the difference but it is still visually stunning.

Karas is also one of those anime that you can watch again and again and notice little things that you wouldn't of notice the first time around. Which makes it great value for money.

Now because I don't want to ruin the story I left out quite a bit. But if you want to ask any questions then drop a comment. I'll try my hardest to give a spoiler free answer.

AW. NiN10Doh!

Some of you may remember an AW I did a while back about Super Smash Bros Taunts. The first thing first, I got the author wrong. It's not Wolflink, it's Kirbopher.
Next thing is that his made another flash animation about Nintendo call NiN10Doh!
It's a massive collaboration of his and some other peoples work.

I never realized how much of a short fuse Ash has.

AW. Well kinda.

Today is a bit of a mix of Animated Wednesday and Musical Mondays. Not saying that my last MM was rubbish far from it. Zack Kim truly rocks. He rocks. But he is not something I have on my iPod so in a way the last MM wasn't a true MM. But anyway saw this video on Kerrang today. It's not full animation but it definitely caught my eye.
The only problem is err it not available to embed on the blog at the moe.

I'm getting a very Panic At The Disco! feel with this video. And what is it with the Carnie theme all of the sudden, what with Britney Spears AND Take That releasing albums with the tittle Circus?
I like Pete's make up it quite cool. Wouldn't walk out the house wearing something like that, but it's still cool. However I am going to have nightmares about Patrick's choice in Lipstick. Sinister.

AW. Cartoons of or youth

Have you ever seen the beginning of most cartoons these days? None of them match up to what we used to watch. No catchy tunes. No revving you up to be super hyper. No nothing.
Here some classic examples good openings to some classic cartoons.

Which one was your favorite turtle. I like (yes I still like him hence the present tense) Michaelangelo. All the others are to serious.

I think I pissed my mum off so much when this came on because I could only remember the "Chip Chip Chip N' Dale" part.

I actually learned this song when I was younger. I think it made Saturday mornings much more bearable. I can't remeber all of it now however. Such a shame =0(

AW Classic: The End of the World

Every once in a while I'm going to do a post about some classic Flash animation.
The only real reason why any one would know about these will be because you even found them by accident or if you've been surfing the web since you were a wee lad. I'm the latter. I was thinking about it yesterday and realized that I've had access to the net for over 10 years now. That's a decade. It's amazing how it's now become an integral part of most peoples life. But any way on with the show.

I just have to say one thing. "WTF mate?"

AW. The Ultimate Showdown of Ultimate Destiny

I'm not in the best mind set right at this present moment in time.
So please excuse me for the short post.
I thought I would show you guys not only one of my favorite pieces of of music but the flash animation (saying that it is Animated Wednesdays) that goes with it as well.

Now I'll admit that its not the best flash out there, but it is synced well with the song, which is one the best songs out there. I wonder how the guy came up with the lyrics and that leads me to thinking how anyone comes up with lyrics. And then I remember why I was down and get depressed again.
Meh. I'm going to have cheesy Doritoes there the best.

AW. A return of Ice 101

Before I start doing any reviews about any type of animation I feel that I need to get some things clear. The differences between Manga and Anime. The best way to do this I feel is reintroduce "Ice 101".

Lesson #004 Anime and Manga
Now when I was a young lad (some people would still say I'm a whipper snapper) I was greatly confused by Japanese Animation. I would always go into shops and ask for Manga and get shown to the DVD section. Which isn't right. Manga is the equivalent of a graphic novel, so it should be in the book section of the store.
But this always made me think "Am I wrong?" (I wrong most of the time, so it wouldn't of surprised me). But atlas i was right. There was a company over here that produced Anime DVDs and are called Manga. This is what the confused the sales people. Dumb asses. Also another factor that contributed to the confusion is that lots of Anime, if it's popular, get converted to Anime. A bit like a good book can get turned into a movie. (If it becomes a GOOD movie is another question).
Anyway just so that everything is clear here are is an example of Anime and Manga. This is from the Manga of Naruto. The following video is of the same scene but in the Anime version.




Oh I forgot to mention another thing. Manga is normally reads from the right to the left (more on this later). So for example the above would be read as "Kage Bushin No Justu" Not "Justu Kage Bushin No". Kage Bushin No Justu means "Shadow Clone Technique" btw just in case you were wondering. See who say I don't do anything educational. I'm teaching Japanese.

As you can see there's not much difference between the two. And I like both as much as the other.
Now a bit more about why Mangas read from the right to left. The most important fact is that Japanese is read from the right to the left. Now it used to be that Manga when released in the UK and the US was published in a "flopped" fashion. In that everything is reverse so that it will read from left to right. Where this would make reading easier it also reversed any designs as well. So a shirt saying "Hello" would read "olleH" and because it wasn't actually part of the script it wouldn't get corrected. Also many artist didn't like this being done to their work. They said that it skews the original idea.

So there you have it. Another lesson finished. So now when I'm talking about Anime or a Manga you're hopefully know what I'm on about as well as which is which.

Animated Wednesdays:

The final one of my ideas for the Guaranteed Three. Animated Wednesdays is as the name suggests about animation. Any type, Anime, Flash Animation, Manga, the list goes on.

I been searching the web to find an animation that will do this first post justice. Now there is good news and bad news. Now the good news. I found a REALLY good animation. The bad. It's on Newgrounds. That means that I can't embed the flash video. But if you click on the picture below then you will be taken to the animation "Legend Of Miyamoto". Just click on "Play Movie".

So what do you think? You know this really happened to Miyamoto in real life. Actually it is now officially the reason of where he got his ideas of (at least on this blog it is).
The flash is well edited and the syncing to the music is incredible. I miss Fat Boy slims old stuff. I hopes he makes another classic like Gangster Tripping soon.
